The Present Simple is the tense used in English to talk about daily habits and routines.
The Present Simple can be used in affirmative,negative and interrogative.
Affirmative:
I,you,we,they + base form
he,she,it+ base form-s
Negative:
I,you,we,they+ don´t+ base form
he,she,it+ doesn´t+base form
Interrogative:
Do+(I,you,we,they)+base form?
Does+ (he,she,it)+ base form?

6.30. I get up and I make George's sandwiches.Then I do some housework.Then I wake up George and make his breakfast.I'm always in a hurry and I don´t have time for breakfst at home.
8.00.We cycle to school because the bus is expensive.Then I cycle six miles to work.
9.00. I have a sandwich for breakfast in the canteen, and then I start work.My first tour is usually at 9.30.I like my job but I don't earn much money and I stand all day.
5.00. I finish work and I go to pick up George at 5.30. We go shoppping.
6.30. I cook dinner and bath George.After dinner I do more housework and answer e-mails until 9.00.I don´t go out n the evening because a babysitter is very expensive.
9.00. George goes to bed and I read him a story.then I go to bed-I am really tired!!!.

TELLING THE TIME


WHAT TIME IS IT?
WHAT IS THE TIME?

These are the two basic ways we can ask for the time in English.

The clock is divided into two main zones, which are the equivalent in Spanish to "y" and "menos".
In English the "y" zone is indicated by the word "PAST" and the "menos" zone by the word "TO".
In this way we say ¨la una y cinco" : Five Past One, " las doce y veinte": Twenty Past Twelve,etc.
When we want to refer to the "menos" hours we use ¨TO¨ in English so ¨las tres menos veinticinco¨would be : Twenty-Five To Three, ¨las siete menos cinco¨: Five To Seven, etc.
Finally we must remember that ¨En Punto¨is said: O`Clock, ¨ Y media": Half past, ¨Y cuarto¨: A Quarter Past and ¨Menos Cuarto¨: A Quarter To.

Introducing myself

Hi everyone!
My name is Laura Álvarez Benítez and I am a secondary teacher in Alcobendas.I teach both in ESO and Bachillerato and the purpose of this blog is not only to offer activities for students and teachers but to share experiences too.
In this blog we are going to work with one of the basic verb tenses in English: the Present Simple which is used to talk about habits and daily routines.
It could be used in any of the ESO courses but, by its content, it is intended for 2º E.S.O.
The types of contents included will be vocabulary in relation with daily routines, text comprenhension exercises, grammar, listening and writing.
